B & E Report #020601

Officer Reporting: David M. Starsky

Area/Division: Metro

Shift: 2200 - 0600

Date: 08-17-77

It was around 2am on a sweltering and muggy night.

My partner and I had no idea we were in for a fright.

Unbeknownst to us was a burglary taking place.

Driving our rounds it kind of slapped us in the face.

This lone guy came staggering into the side of my car.

Seems he decided this night he would break into a bar.

He and three buddies broke in through a back door.

And to their surprise they found fresh wax on the floor.

They were stunned to find a man working inside.

They were shocked when they're feet did soon glide.

One guy slid towards a wall and was knocked out.

The others were confused as they looked all about.

One of the two left slid backwards and then fainted.

The last one fell forward; his concussioned mind tainted.

He's the one who walked out beside my car in our view.

Stunned and stupored, he said this crime was through.

'No more of this!' he swore, giving his actions away.

We arrested them all; their crime had been swayed.

The barkeep pressed charges through fits of laughter.

He was grateful though that he'd avoided real disaster.

As we drove through the night until daylight arrived,

We had no more incidents. Another shift was survived.
